If the intensity of this January is any indication of how 2025 intends to unfold, all I can say is—buckle up. This past month has been one of the longest, most intense 31 days I’ve experienced in a while.

I’ve always been intentional about where I position myself to ‘ring in the new.’ This year, I was blessed to begin atop a mountain, steeped in ritual, with the ocean gushing all around. In sacred circle, standing shoulder to shoulder with a kindred sister, we welcomed the dawn. Neither of us had slept well the night before, but as the first light broke, our eyes welled with tears. We embraced—no words needed. In that moment, I knew: this is no ordinary year.

Coming Full Circle

Returning to Jamaica, I felt an overwhelming urge to declutter—not just physically, but energetically. In the process, I unearthed handwritten love letters from my first UN posting in Kuwait and academic papers from my Master’s studies in the early 2000s. One paper, written in 2004, explored gender mainstreaming in UN peacekeeping. Reading it now, 21 years later, left me stunned. It was a reminder that in moments I’ve felt lost, I was actually ahead of my time.

Now, in 2025, my work has come full circle. As the world wakes up, the future of our First Mother—the Earth—is in the hands, hearts, and bellies of the feminine. The feminine isn’t just rising—we are here, now.

No More Numbing Out

Part of this awakening meant taking radical responsibility for my health. The relentless stress of the past few years—culminating in the loss of my beloved mother—forced a reckoning. When both parents transition, life takes on a new meaning. With the weight of parental approval gone, I have stepped fully into adulting.
For me, adulting means owning my actions, looking in the mirror with compassion, and recognizing the ways I’ve numbed out—with wine, desserts, Netflix, and distractions. But here’s the truth: this is not the time to numb out. The world needs us WIDE AWAKE.

Women’s Work is Sacred Work

As you read this, I’ll be in Mexico alongside my CONFIDANCE guru, Veronie Sramata, hosting my first retreat of 2025: The Ultimate Girls Trip. Curating this experience with her has been a gift. Old enough to be her mother, I have learned so much from her. If I had her wisdom at her age, I might already be Queen of the Universe! (Pssst... Universal Empress is kinda cool too.)

Throughout my life, I’ve surrounded myself with women—some much older, some much younger. The wisdom warriors ground me with their lived experience, while the young ones keep me on my toes. I am deeply grateful for both.
Women’s work is vital work. We heal, nurture, love, and, yes, we wound. Yet, still we rise.
