Universal Empress Yoga
Nadine’s first experience with yoga was shortly after 9/11, in 2001. Like the world around her, Nadine’s life was at a crossroads. A friend and colleague suggested that she ‘try’ yoga. At first she loathed it – it brought her front and center with her imperfections. It was while living in Indonesia and working with UNICEF following the 2004 tsunami that yoga saved her life. Within a 14-month time-span Nadine had moved from Holland to Sudan and then to Indonesia – all in very high stressed and demanding professional roles.
By 2008, Nadine was ready to deepen her knowledge about the yoga practice that was impacting every area of her life. Her quest led her to the Sivananda Ashram in South India where she did her first yoga teacher training.
While at the ashram, Nadine witnessed nationalities - that in her former UN world were incapable of engaging in dialogue - instead here, they poured immense love upon each other. In an instant Nadine understood and embraced that yoga is a viable tool for peace – within and beyond our individual selves.
In 2012, after Nadine’s two-year UN stint serving as Chief of Operations in the Central African Republic, Nadine chose to immerse herself completely into teaching yoga.
Now based in South East Asia, on full-time faculty at The Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali - the largest yoga and wellness facility in the region. In addition to teaching all types of yoga, Nadine has developed her signature brand, the BadAsana Series: Yoga with Free Weights.
About the Badasana Series
Based upon classic asana yoga principles, the Badasana Series integrates light to medium dumb-bells throughout a Vinyasa infused class. This moderate intensity practice leaves high impact as it builds body awareness, endurance and strength, personal confidence and boosts over-all well-being. Whether you are a certified yoga and/or fitness instructor in search of some useful tools to add to your toolkit, this program is ideal for you.
